Here are our five things for this week.
1. Dates
Thursday March 30th 7:30pm: BUK and a Beer meets at The Abdication to discuss:
Monday April 24th 4pm: Tom Palmer returns!
Shop favourite, Tom Palmer will be back. We’re so excited, we’ve given Tom his own page on the website:
Tuesday 25th April 7:30pm: BUK in the Hood meets at The Robin Hood (AND) Little John to have a drink and a chat about all things Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror.
2. BUK Recommendations - The Customer Edition
We’re always happy to discover books you love.
Starting in next week’s newsletter, we’d like to feature books you think others should know about.
If you’d like to pass on some recommendations you can pop along for a chat, email (wearebuk@gmail.com) or get in touch via social media (wearebuk on all platforms).
For now, here are six books recommended to us this week (with quotes from customers):
The Last King of California: ‘Takes the American Outlaw theme and flips it.’
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue: ‘There’s a reason why it’s got a billion reviews.’
Amari and the Night Brothers: ‘Might be one of the best Middle Grade books I’ve ever read’.
Cathedral: ‘Just blew my mind. An unbelievable book.’
A Gentleman in Moscow: ‘About as close to a perfect book as possible.’
Other Minds: ‘Freaked me out. In a good way’.
3. School Orders
I’m sure you know we can order pretty much any book and it’ll be here really quickly (often, the next day!).
But did you know we work with our local schools to put together lists of books, help recommend titles and offer a rather nice school discount?
If you know a local school and they need books - get in touch!
4. BUK Club
The BUK Club met this week. We discussed Jamie Mollart’s Kings of a Dead World. Jamie was due to join us but was unfortunately laid low by COVID. He’s promised to pop along to see us, so I’ll keep everyone posted.
We’re currently voting for our next read, get in touch if you’d like to be take part.
5. The Round-Up
In no particular order, here’s a selection of what’s been going on this week:
The BUK Club met
Lots of books arrived
Early morning deliveries were made
Plans were made for a writing competition
Snack of the week - Lidl Doughnuts (not sponsored but open to offers…)
The Last Chapter
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading & thanks for your ongoing support.
Happy reading,
Tim.
